What is the ram frequency, socket and memory module on a CPU

I'm a total newbie here and i'm planning on getting a gaming computer so i'm researching computer parts. I'm at this site right here: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Gaming-Computer and it says that you should find a motherboard that matches your CPU so you should "take a note" of the ram frequency, socket and memory module. But what are those things? And how do I know if a motherboard fits the CPU? Also what is the "pins" on the memory module?
Keep in mind i'm a newbie so I might not get slang for different words.

RAM frequency is the data rate of the RAM, e.g. 'DDR3-1600'. Generally you don't need to worry too much about that.

Socket is the physical pins on the CPU. Examples are 'LGA 1150', 'LGA 2011', 'AM3+', and 'FM2'.

204-pin DDR3 modules are smaller, for laptops. Desktop ones are 240-pin. It refers to the number of physical pins in the memory slot that touch the module.

"Anyone who already has a specific CPU in mind should select a motherboard based on that CPU. For example, if you want to use one of the new multi-core chips made by Intel or AMD, you will need to select a motherboard with the correct socket for those chips. CPUs simply will not fit into sockets that don't match their PGA."
What do I look at on a CPU to see that it would fit the motherboard? How do I know it matches?

Well when you look up for a cpu there's always a specification like the socket.
for example an i5-3570K cpu has an LGA 1155 Socket, so you have to buy a motherboard with the same LGA 1155 Socket in order to fit the cpu.

HERE in the name it says LGA 1155

and here it again says LGA 1155 so that means that the cpu is compatible with that motherboard.
You can find your motherboard socket by typing your motherboard MODEL in google search or find in the motherboard manual.
So before buying a CPU you should always know your motherboard socket in order to buy the compatible cpu
