Whenever I use auto clock on overdrive, it increases the reference clock. What does the reference clock do when changed?

OHHH, you should've been more clear man. your talking about GPU Overclocking? in amd overdrive? it increases the GPU Core clock, increasing the performance.

Ok sorry I thought I was clear but maybe it's just me. I'm overclocking my AMD 8320e PROCESSOR and I want to know if you happen to know what the reference clock pertains to and why I would want to change it. The default setting for it is 200 Mhz if that helps.
