What is the safest 24/7 vcore for 2600k?

Im reading different values, some say 1.37, some say 1.4.

I want to run a 24/7 stable 5ghz clock, but not if I have to go over the recomended current.

you won't know till you test it yourself. personally i'd go with 1.37

If the computer idles down it should run at 1.7 GHz which will lower power in that state. If you're running something like Folding 24/7 go with the 1.37 and try to keep temps below 65C. Max operating temp 72.6C per Intel.

Pretty good advice. Intel's max recommended voltage is 1.52 volts, but with any kind of conventional cooling, you will reach thermal limits before that.

Keep in mind that most OC guides say to turn off EIST, in which case your CPU will not throttle back during idle. I recommend turning off EIST, work out your OC settings, then turn it back on.

I also recommend going into the PC Health section of the BIOS and setting the thermal alarm for 70 C.

Ok, I see. I have Corsair H100 watercooling, so it's pretty cool all the time.
A friend of mine said that 1.52v was the max recommended when doing benchmarks, and that 1.38v was the max recommended for 24/7 use.

Source? Seriously, prove that intel said that and I'll dump 1.52 volts on my 2600K right away.

Well, Im getting stable 4.7Ghz on 1.38v for the moment, so I think I will stick to that until someone tells me it's safe to set a higher volt.
