Hello

Whilst taking apart my laptop to apply some new thermal paste, I ended up breaking a connector of some sort. I'm posting two images of said piece with a US Penny for size comparison.

I will get back to you tomorrow when I have access to the laptop.

Those are the locations of the connectors with a zoomed out picture for each connector for a general idea of where they are. This is on a Toshiba X205-SLi6 laptop.

Thanks in advance,

Nope. My phone does not have a macro mode. Though my tablet does, I will take them again tomorrow. However you should be able to make out where they are located at least. Can you try maybe? The two spots I took pictures of have the same connector type.

Thanks,

Hi :)

Get me some decent pics and a full view as well...and you didnt answer which you "think" you broke ?

All the best Brett :)

I did. It's tricky to get them to go in without a very steady hand, but I can try again. Brett, I will get those pictures to you tomorrow. And as Gary said, I pulled the connector off the wires. The story is that I could not get the header separated from the motherboard and ended up pulling the wires out instead. I actually needed to take tweezers and get the connector out of the socket it was in. It almost seemed like it was glued it for some reason.

Thanks,

I haven't pulled out any pins. Two identical connectors, yes. Those wires you see go into the connector and then into the motherboard. I'm trying to find the connector type and buy 2 of them. Again, the model of laptop is a Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi6.

Thanks,

From the looks of it, it appears that the leads that are missing the header connection are not for a fan, rather, they are for the speakers. The fan leads appear to still have their connector, so unless you broke THAT off of the motherboard, the fan should function just fine.

Click here to see what I'm talking about.

I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what part those have in common. I need to order a replacement connector for the wires to fit in so I can reconnect them to the laptop.

Thanks in advance,
