Those seem to be the backs of contacts for the underside of the CPU. I wouldn't worry too much about these, but try not to do anything specifically damaging to them. Definitely not for decoration since is will, when used, be under the CPU cooler's heat sink.

And checking if the Cpu still works after lidding.

Or you would be messing around having to fit each one to a cpu socket of a motherboard.
