Question What is this unknown system tray icon?

There is a mysterious system tray icon that appears every few minutes on my machine. I have no idea what app it is from. The strange part is that if i try and hover over it, it disappears.

I have monitored my apps and processes in task view and can see nothing amiss.

If anyone has any idea what it is I would be appreciative of the help.

Have you right clicked on it to see what you can find for its context menu?

It's not an icon I recognize, but since it looks like a tiny magnifying glass I'd guess it's some sort of third party search tool if it's not malware of some kind (and I'm not ready to jump to that conclusion).

Addendum: Sorry, I somehow missed the bit about disappearance upon hovering over. That makes me think malware of some sort. I'd try running something like Malwarebytes or turning to a Malware Removal forum (which I don't see a dedicated one here) for assistance.

Geeks-to-Go has a dedicated Malware Removal Forum and relatively light traffic, so the responses are fairly prompt, should you need to exercise that route.
