Trunked likely means: Of a two-way radio system: using a control channel to automatically assign frequency channels to groups of user radios.

its not something I have heard a lot myself. Most references to Trunks I see are tree trunks (the main support of a tree). Its an obscure meaning. Not common.

O.K. What is the difference between roaming to trunk (in this context)?

Trunk line has also been used with telephone systems. Originally copper and now fiber.

Likewise I am hesitant to attempt some explanation of the differences in terminology.

The P25bestpractice link ([provided by @Colif ) being a very good starting point.

@shaharhada

Do remember that it is not uncommon for terms and phrases that have some general or original meaning evolve into other meanings.

Generally that evolution is more for marketing purposes than some specific technical reasons.

However, in all fairness, using older or established terminology can serve as a base to help explain and understand newer ways or applications of technology.

As above "roaming" and "trunk" being two immediate examples.
