Hello all,

My computer has the following specs:

CPU: i5 2500k
GPU: GTX 680
Memory:16 GB RAM
OS: Windows 10

I'm not really able to play the game with this computer. My question is: which changes should I make? If I change the GPU will it run propertly? or at this point I have to change also the CPU, and hence, the motherboard.

Thank you,

Solution
I "doubt" it's your hardware because while kind of old, it was all really good at the time, and is still better than the minimum requirements for the game, so I'm betting it's a software/driver conflict.

GPU: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-760-vs-Nvidia-GTX-680/2159vs3148

Minimum requirements: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=23719&game=Forza%20Horizon%203

You may want to try OCing your CPU, because its kind of the weakest part of your system, but the fact you can OC it means you can squeeze probably like 20% more performance out of it...

Sorry I didn't explain myself property. I can play but at 30 fps with lowest quality possible, including the resolution. Also it's crashing and closing very often.

Thank you for your answer.

If you have graphics or driver issues, one of the most common fixes is a clean uninstall and removal of your graphics drivers.

To uninstall your drivers, first download and run Display Driver Uninstaller, and follow it's recommendations of booting into safe mode and ect.
(This is a direct download link so you don't grab the wrong version)
http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

You'll download a compressed file called "[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip"
Right click and choose extract.
Go into the folder and run the DDU v##.##.exe
This will extract more files to this folder.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
Choose Yes when it asks you to boot into SafeMode.
After you've rebooted into safe mode.
When DDU comes up, if it hasn't selected your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD/Intel) then choose it from the drop down list
Press the Clean and Restart option
If a window comes up asking to disable the Windows automatic installation of display drivers click yes.

After (or before removing the old drivers, just put the new ones on the desktop or somewhere handy) rebooting back into Windows, manually download the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD, don't use auto detect, choose you GPU model and OS from the drop down lists.

If you're still using the stock Intel cooler, that'd be the only thing I'd say you'd have to upgrade.

Thank you very much. I'll try to unistall the drivers.

I'm thinking that maybe the problem is with the direct X. I beleive that I cannot get the Direct X 12, but I'm not sure about this.

Thanks again

If you're on Windows 10, you have DX12 and your GPU supports it, so the game should easily be playable at medium settings.

If you did a "windows 7 to 10 upgrade install" that could be a problem, you may want to consider doing a Windows 10 reset/clean install, as that will get rid of any old junk from your old OS that may be throwing a wrench into the cogs.

I’ve tried to uninstall the drivers as you told me and I cannot get the game working properly. I still have to play it at lowest settings.

Is there any way to know if I upgraded the windows 10 from the 8th. I can’t remember if I have a clean installation or not.

If I have to change anything of the computer what it would be? The GPU? Or at this point I have to change also the CPU?

Thank you very much, you are being very helpful.

Well, if you have a pre-built, there should be a sticker with the OS serial key on it, and that will tell you what version it came with.

Even if you don't know, a windows 10 reset wouldn't hurt, and may make your computer just perform better, because it will clear out any unneccsary junk, but you'll have to redownload everything, it'll take about 3 hours to do that whole process roughly.

only thing i'd change is your CPU cooler to like a Hyper 212 Evo (but your case has to be decently wide to support it) or like a Noctua Nh-9li if your case doesn't support a tall cooler. And then try to OC your CPU.

If you really wanna spend like $800-900 on a new computer, which you can, but isn't super necessary.

And if you want to do a somewhat smaller upgrade, but be ready for a big GPU upgrade later on, you can do something like this, it's basically just modern versions of your current hardware, and still using your current GPU:
