[SOLVED] What is your opinion on this RTX 2080 TI build ?

ryzen 5 2600
Asus Prime A320M-K
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400 PC4-19200 16GB 2x8GB CL16
Kingston A400 SSD 120GB
Corsair RM650X 650W 80 Plus Gold Full Modular
Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 2080Ti AMP! Edition 11GB GDDR6
case :
L-Link Kazumi USB 3.0 (comes with 4 120mm fans)

i know that the ryzen 5 2600 is not enough but my dad said i can't go above the budget he gave me for my birthday

so i had to choose between weak CPU (with possibility to upgrade for next months) or weak GPU

what do you think ?

Solution
buying 1360$ GPU with my dads money is not the same as buying 300$ CPU with my own money :)

if you think a heatsink type of mobo is that important no company would make a non heatsink mobo ever otherwise people will complain and sue them don't you think ?
Lots of people buy low power CPUs and use them in ways where getting the most performance doesn't matter (or might not even be looked for/noticed). And no, this wouldn't result in people suing them. PBO and XFR frequencies aren't guaranteed, so as long as the motherboard can handle running the CPU at base clocks the manufacturer isn't lying by saying they support the CPU, even if you aren't necessarily getting the max performance out of it.

And again, even if it can run...

I think it's an absolutely horribly unbalanced build.

A320 motherboard might not support 2600 out of the box, won't allow overclocking, likely won't support 3rd gen ryzen, slow ram will make the cpu perform worse.

What resolution are you planning to run? If not 4k then a 2080 or 1080ti with a better rest of system will be a better option, probably better off with a 1080ti at 4k anyway.

Only a 120gb SSD? Do you have other storage?

I would switch to a 2080 not ti and that will save you like $400 to spend on better ram, and cpu. Also why only a 120gb ssd, you shoud get a 500gb m.2 for around $100

amd said next gen will be supported on all am4 mobos

am not planning to overclock and we already have 4k + 1080p monitors but mostly play on 1080p 144hz

i already have more ssds friend

but i think 2080 has same performance of 1080ti and i want more powerful gpu and the cpu will be upgraded when next gen comes out

The socket will be surpported, yes but it's up to the individual motherboard manufacturers to actually add the bios update for the new CPUs, and with the weak vrms on most a320 motherboards I don't expect most will get updated. You'll also lose some of the percision boost with second gen ryzen with a 3** series board.

You'd be a whole lot better off spending your budget better especially at 1080p where even a 2070 will pull 144 fps paired with a faster cpu more often than a 2080ti with a true stock speed 2600.

thanks for your reply mate

so what type of mobo you suggest ?

i can upgrade cpu after few months it is only for now

I'd get basically any b450 motherboard and ram that's at least 3000 mhz. I would definitely be willing to trim down a level on GPU for either of those two things

ok

but why trimming down the level on gpu ? are they good enough for it ? am not an overclocker just going with the stock speed

I don't know of a game where you'd get more fps at 1080p with a gimped 2600 and a 2080ti, than a 2600x and 2080/1080ti with faster ram and a better motherboard.

You're stuck with a budget I'm trying to get you better performance for thst budget.. a giant GPU at 1080p is wasted... Even in most cases a 9900k will bottlneck a 2080ti at 1080p

i told you that the cpu is weak am not planning to keep but only for few months

even though i agree on what you said about changing mobo to b450

but i don't see the mobo give me more fps tbh that's why i don't want to go for an expensive b450 mobo

The 4** series motherboards use the percision boost works better with 2nd gen ryzen. So more fps. The a320 boards possibly won't let you upgrade... And dang sure not overclocked at 1080p w 2070 with a better setup will get more fps than a stock speed slow ram 2600. Go look at the reviews on Tom's site for the 2600 and see what you're giving up

ok i agree
i will buy cheapest b450 mobo and 3000mhz 8gb of ram and wait for next ryzen gen to come

is it good ?

I agree with all the other posters. GPU is overkill and you are compromising in the wrong areas.

Get a solid, modern MObo, CPU and RAM ike those recommended above, and scale back to GPU to a 1080 or even a 1070 for now, especially if you are gaming at 1080 or 1440p.

Upgrading to better GPU in future makes more sense than playing catch up with the rest of the build.

Ryzen needs fast ram to run at optimal levels, that slow ram will hamstring the cpus performance and limit the frames it can produce. As other have suggested to get the most out of that 2600 you need a better motherboard and faster ram, the same applys to the faster Ryzen cpus. .

am planning to get

Gigabyte B450M DS3H

and

G.Skill Ripjaws V Red DDR4 3000 PC4-24000 16GB 2x8GB CL15

and next ryzen CPU

is it good enough ?

A 2600 isn't "weak", it's actually pretty good. Why would you get it if you're just planning on replacing it in a few months anyway?
because my dad wants to buy a whole gaming pc for me these days within a limited budget

by myself i can't afford this budget so i take advantage of it to get the most expensive GPU out there and the cheaper parts i can afford it later in few months

"At least get something with heatsinks on the VRMs"

i don't think that's necessary am not trying to OC any cpu

Ok, but what sort of next gen Ryzen CPU are you wanting to get? What if it has a higher TDP?

Also, with AMD features like Precision Boost Overdrive and XFR, the CPUs sort of OC themselves. But the motherboard would need to be able to handle it.

I guess I don't understand how you can spend $1200+ on a graphics card and then balk at spending an extra $10-20 on a decent motherboard.
