What key configuration do you use

Hello,

I am currently playing a Druid Caster (Fire Tree) for the first time.
Almost broke my fingers in a heavy fight last evening.
Instead of using a primary and a secundary spell, I see myself constantly
switching
between Firestorm, Molten Boulder and Fissure, depending on the situation at
hand.

I was wondering what would be a good key setup to select the different
skills.

Being right-handed, I use the mouse on my right hand so that one is
occupied.
Left hand:
tab = map
w = toggle weapon/shield
alt = view on ground items
1 to 4 = potions

I am not purely spell casting, using left mouse for melee attacks and right
mouse for spells.
Sometimes swithing weapons from a mace/shield combi to a two handed sword -
yes, I
use everything I can get my hands on with this build :)

Assigend F5 to F12 to several skills, F5 to F8 for the ones I use most.
But this doesn't work fast enough.

Also tried to use the mouse scroll wheel to select the proper skill but that
doesn't work either.
I am constantly switching two skills ahead when I want to do one and visa
versa.

Any suggestions?

Marcel

you can put your spells on QWER and/or ASDF. I've the most-used
selections on QWER, so quaffing pots is just one row away. If you have
pre-buff spells on weapon switch, you could put these on the function
keys. My barbs have the Battle Command/Battle Orders/Shout and Item find
skills on F1-F4.
Q activates Concentrate, W is for Double Throw, E for Battle Cry and R
for Teleport. I don't really need the second row (ASDF) here.

Left mouse button is for direct attacks (Q or W), right mouse button does
everything else. You just have to learn to remember which skill is
currently selected, otherwise you might activate the wrong skill or loose
time doing an unneeded key stroke.

My biggest problem is switching between the 2 weapon sets. Every now and
then I hit the switch key and don't actually switch, as I haven't pressed
the key hard enough or the game was preoccupied somehow. Attacking with
my +4 skills pre-buff axes doesn't really do any damage when I should be
on my
double-throw setup.

Oliver

With most of my characters I divided most of my skills up by tree. If
using the Druid, I'd use f1-f7 keys for elemental spells, and f8-f12
and 5-8 for summoning (I didn't do any shapeshifting but that's how
would divide different trees). Incidentally, no matter what character i
use i always reserve f4 for tp that way I can quickly access it without
thinking.

This can be somewhat detrimental as if i want to use a tp and i
accidentally hit the wrong bar assignment (4 instead of f4) i end up
using a potion, which is normally a rejuv in that spot (I assign health
pots to 1 and 2 slots, manas to 3, and rejuvs to 4...if i don't have
any rejuvs, i use health pots there.)

Yes that helped, although it is something to get used to after all these
months... :)

Thanks!

Which is why I always use F8 for TP. I also switch rows 3 and 4 on the
potions, but I guess that's just a matter of preference.

Hello,

I use my mousewheel to switch the skills on the right.
My Amazons got left skill Frozen Arrow and on the right I cast a Valky,
(wheel up) Multishot (wheel up) Guided... very easy
I suggest to use no more skills on the right then 3, otherwise you get
disorientated by turning.
