What kind of backup before Factory Restore

Hello, I have a first generation Lenovo Yoga that I use for my business. I have a new laptop but the old one has some legacy software that I occasionally need to use, so I cannot just discard it. I have some driver issues and have tried for months to resolve and feel that I am at the point to just do a restore to original factory state. However, I can't lose all the software, etc on the laptop and I do not have installation discs or files for any of it anymore. With that said, what kind of backup will allow me to reset the notebook but still recover all my programs/software? Would a clone do what I want?

Unless the old legacy software don't required installation, none.
