What kind of PC monitor should I run with a GTX 1080?

Some people say that I should use a 1080p for it but others say that's overkill. All I want is a steady 60fps if not higher. I have a $500-700 budget. Thanks

It can do 4K but wouldn't suggest it. Best to run 1440p (better visual acuity/distance and lesser power hog) to get that steady 60fps or even more.

1080P is kinda considered a bare minimum these days, certainly not overkill

For a GTX1080, the best monitor you can get is something like Acer XB271HU or ASUS PG279Q.
If you can live without GSync, ASUS MG279Q is ok.

Sorry I meant the GTX 1080 is over kill for the 1080p
