What kind of RAM do I need for my MOBO?

I have the asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 mobo, I want to upgrade to 16gb of RAM. What kind of RAM do I have to have to be compatible? DDR3? Can I get some links?

You'll need DDR3 RAM and what RAM do you have currently? As we could potentially just get a 2x4GB kit or a single 8GB stick instead of a full 16GB kit.
