Question What laptop do you recommend? General web browsing

So my girlfriend is currently looking for a new laptop, she pretty much only uses it for web browsing, Google docs, and submitting pieces of writing to journals to be published. She is looking for something newer and lighter than her current 2007 Macbook. Anything light and easily fits into a backpack is ideal. I know they aren't that great but I can't image she would need anything more than a basic chrome book or something but what do you all recommend?

You have to start with a budget, and formfactor / size. If she's used to MacBook / MacOS, your are looking at $1000 MacBook Air. Another popular choice would be 2-in-1 devices, where you're looking at $500 device. You can get "traditional" Windows laptop for like $400.

Get her to Costco / BestBuy / Walmart, and let her choose a style, and work around that.

I'd suggest another MacBook. It's hard going from a MacBook to a windows PC, just a completely different machine. You can even pay in instalments.

I have a personal MacBook and a work laptop and I can't use the work laptop. I need it to access certain things but that's all I use it for. you have to take a mouse everywhere cos the trackpad makes you want to punch the damn thing.
