what LCD's offer good viewing angle up/down?

I just recently purchased a Samsung 206bw, and although I think it is nice, the viewing angle going up and down isn't that great. I sit about 3 feet from the monitor and I notice the colors diminish as I look towards the top 25% of the screen, especially when I am scrolling through a website.

Do all LCD's have this problem or are there LCD's that do a great job at displaying all the colors are good viewing angles? Is this a problem with quick response monitors?

Also is there any tweaking I can do to my samsung to make the viewing angle better?

You are experiencing one of the downfalls of a 6-bit TN panel. These types of panels are notorious for poor viewing angles and is definitely not recommended for any type of portrait viewing (as opposed to landscape). You need to do some research and be willing to spend more money on better panel technology.

All 22" LCD monitors use TN panels and most panels smaller than 22" also use TN panels. There are certain 20"/21" monitors that uses better panel tech (P-MVA, S-PVA, S-IPS [them most expensive]), but will cost $450+; namely the Samsung 214T and 215TW. I'm sure there are other LCD monitors that use one of the 3 better panel techs I mentioned, but I have only been researching 24"+ LCD monitors.

All 24" LCD monitors used to use P-MVA or S-PVA panels, but the 6-bit TN panel recently invaded this territory; starting with the Samsung 245BW. The following is a list of 24" 6-bit TN monitors that I know of (all of which are $500 or less):

that sucks, but it's good enough. It's just odd when I'm sitting 3 feet away and the top portion of the screen darkens a bit.

Do you or anyone else have any recommended settings for the samsung 206bw, to maximize the best of the LCD?

Also how do you keep the brightness down so the eyes won't be bothered? I have my brightness/contrast down to 10 each and it's still too bright for me.

Old topic, but I have found that the Soyo 24" DYLM24D6 uses and 8-bit P-MVA panel and is only $350 and is available from wal-mart even. I plan to pick one up in the next week or so to replace my P-MVA 20". A friend has 3 of them and recommended them!
