Question What lga775 motherboard will support quad core Xeons?

Hi, I need to know what type of lga 775 motherboard will support the 771 Xeons with the mod done. I have bought a 775 board without checking and it only supports dual cores. How can I know if they support the 771 xeon quqd core cpu?

If the motherboard supports quad core core 2 cpus it should be able to use xeons with sticker mod. You may need to have someone mod the bios to see the xeon. People on ebay do this for a fee.

The place I'm going to sells cheap 775 mobo cpu combos but the guy there told me he has no quad cores, is there anything in the mobo I can look for?

I would look for a newer chipset. Unfortunately im not sure what chipset it needed.

I found a g41 board there which I'm pretty sure suppers quad core but I think it has a pentium d in it or something

h-ig641-uatx. Checked online, it will support core2 quad, so it should support the Xeon X5450 that i am planning to buy.

Also has aq pretty nice heatsink so I could overclock.

Only problem is, the board only allows up to 4GB DDR3, so it might limit the pc alot.

Well ddr3 will make it faster but 4gb woulf be a limit.

Yep, now im wondering if i should get aniother mobo or just use 4gb, some games dont use that much but others are more ram intensive.

Well one of the best usability upgrades is more ram. I would suggest more.

If it has 4gb of ram you arent lying. Some laptops cant even have ram changed at all.

Atleast DDR3 2GB is cheap, it will set me back like £8 for 4gb

Yea. 8gb of Fast ddr4 cost me $150 last year. Its only like 50-60 now tho.

Jeez. I foolishly bought 16gb 3000mhz Corsair ram for £100 when I could've bought 2x8 3200 for about £90. I will probably never need 32gb ram, i got 1x16 because my mobo only has 2 dimm slots.

I got my RX 570 for £80 on gumtree which is like craigslist in the uk and australia. The guy I bought it from threw in a Haswell i5 which I sold for £50 which basically meant the RX570 was £30 so a pretty good deal!

Id say so. I have been needing to upgrade my poor 2gb GTX 1050 but i think im going to hold off.

The 570 is one of the best price-performance used GPU's on the market if not the best imo. They are like £70 on ebay and less if you can get a good deal on them. Overclock them and you can get same performance as 580, the 570 already beats 1060 6gb and it's £100 less, its a great gpu. What CPU do you have?

Lol now your helping me. I have looked into the upgrade before and my overclocked ryzen 3 1200 and corsair cx550m and it will be ok. I just am waiting for the deal of the lifetime and prices are really low. 1050 is fine for now but limits my cpu in most games.
