I have never dealt with RGB inside of my computer before and now I have bought new parts I wanna give it a go, as the title says I have a MSI X370 pro Gaming Carbon Mobo, I'm aware the motherboard comes with a RGB header does that allow me to just connect LED strips to it and control it with the software / app or do I still need a control hub and what lights do I get I have tried looking ( probably looking in the wrong place somehow).

As long as the strips you get are "Addressable RGB" they will work using the header on the motherboard.

Otherwise you get proprietary strips with a lighting kit and you must use software designed for the lighting controller.

As for kits, NZXT Hue+ is a quality rated one. But is a bit pricey. Anything outside of that I wouldn't know about the quality but you can obviously look up reviews for whatever you find.
