I need a value priced graphics cards to update my Dell XPS 410 to win 10. I have 4mb installed and an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 4.86ghz. Need basics-little or no gaming.
Windows error message trying upgrade -Replace graphics card with direct 9 graphics and WDDM driver.
I was looking at an EVGA GeForce GT610 with either 1mb or 2mb. Not sure of quality of this card.

A GT 610's pretty weak, but it'll get the job done. What I'm wondering is why the existing card won't work. The XPS 410 doesn't have any integrated graphics, so the baseline GPU is a GeForce 7300 LE, which is very old but also supports DirectX 9 with WDDM. It could be a driver problem (assuming that's actually the card you have) that could be fixed by installing one of these:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82701/en-us - 32 bit version

I would still suggest getting a new card though, mainly for the DirectX 10 feature set and better video decoding capability. One of these would do nicely:

These are old cards that are basically guaranteed to work with your old system, and don't require a separate power connector.

I have the driver 309.08 already installed. MS gives ugrade message when I try to go to win 10 saying card not compatible. I have verified that I have an Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE passive cooling (no fan) installed.
Really appreciate fast response. Prices can't be beat on the suggested cards on ebay!
