Hello, I got Asus B150-Pro m/b and i7-7700K. Even I already have Samsung SSD 1 TB, I would like to add M.2 as primary SSD for OS & Firewall etc. My problem is how to recognize what M.2 storages are "M" key, that my m/b support (based on manual) - shops only describe it as 2242, 2260, 2280, but there is no "M" key statement. Pls help and thanks. Would you be so kind and suggest some model...

Solution
2242, 2260, 2280 etc sis the physical size description, 22mm wide, 42 or 60 or 80mm long. The Standard size for any pc M.2 is 2280, whereas a playstation uses 2242 etc. But general shopping for an M.2 will be a 2280.

Theres 2 general kinds of pc M.2 drives. Sata_6G and NVMe. There's 3 kinds of M.2 ports used. Sata, NVMe and Sata/NVMe. A Sata drive can't be used in an NVMe port, and an NVMe can't be use in a Sata port, unless that port accepts either.

Intel® B150 chipset : 1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode).

According to specs, your mobo has 1x M.2 port that will support either Sata_6G or NVMe Gen3.

So your choice is relatively simple. How big and how much do you...

Man, that's the answer I expected... thank you very much. Sure, I knew for 3 sizes but couldn't recognize what M.2 could match with my MoBo... now, my life in compshop is much easier. God bless ya man!
