Hello, my m2 ssd arrived today and now I’m wondering which of the 2 slots I should use? I have a Asus ROG Z270F and bought a 970 EVO Plus m2.

Generally speaking, you want to first use the one that is closest to the CPU socket. That is usually, in fact always as far as I can recall, the M.2_1 slot. But regardless of the designation it is generally the one closest to the CPU for reasons of signal termination, and uses the CPU lanes rather than the chipset lanes and is the slot recommended for M.2 drives that will be used for the OS. If it is just for extra storage and won't be the boot drive, then it probably doesn't matter which slot you use although I'd still probably use the M.2_1 slot near the CPU socket.
