What makes Artic Silver so good? It's just a heatsink compound, right? What has it got over the other compounds?

ASIII is supposed to have a different vehicle. Supposedly makes it easier to apply properly and does not vaporize or go away somehow. It is also supposed to take about 72 hours to settle in. Last but not least, it has a different color than ASII.

Arctic, the mfr sent a lot of free samples of the ASIII before it was officially marketed. If all the forum threads are true. You missed your chance.

72 hours to settle in?
does that mean that u have to wait for 72 hours after applying it to the CPU and then attaching the heatsink, before you use it? Or does that mean u have 2 wait for 72 hrs before actually attaching the heatsink, or what?

72 hours to get the full effect, still can use it before but the temp supposed to be a few degrees higher before it settle in.

They claim the thermal resistance is like 2 orders of magnitude lower than it is for Zinc Oxide (the generic stuff).
