According to pcpartpicker there are two MSI 670e based motherboards that retail for more than $1200 and the Gigabyte X670E AORUS XTREME (rev. 1.0) EATX AM5 Motherboard that retails for the more affordable price of $968!!!!!! What makes these motherboards so great that they command these kind of prices?

More PCIe buses and EATX size, much larger and "richer" with other connectors. if you need any of those.

Lots of things; sellers know that gamers are obsessive and will pay any price for a special product they want; 670e motherboards are not the current generation (870e) so supply is more limited than new stock; some people think that paying more makes them better, etc.

The manufacturers know that there are people willing to pay this much for motherboards, so they put everything they can into these motherboards in the hope of tempting the whales. After all, motherboards on the low end are fairly low-margin products.
