What memory do I need for p55 gd41

i5 661 CPU

Msi suggests that I use an xmp type ram to enable the mobo auto clocking feature
I have coursair ddr3 xms3 ram,will this work the same.
Or is Msi useing a marketing strategy to sell xmp ram?
