Hello all,

I'm trying to get an extra 4gb (at least...but I'm open to 8gb of course) memory ram for my custom desktop. I already have 4gb (2 gb sticks each) installed but I'm not sure what to get since the memory I currently have installed are not sold anymore.

My computer specs:

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231303

CPU: Phenom II x4 955 BE

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102914

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130223

Case: HAF 912 mid-tower

Please let me know what I should be looking out for when purchasing new ram (should I worry about timings? etc.). I'm a totally newbie when it comes to building computers so I thank every reply back in advance. I'm not even sure if I can use 2 4gb sticks since I already installed 2 2gb sticks.

My budget is ~$50-60 (of course I'm willing to dish out more $ if its 8gb) and I prefer memory that at least has a similar performance to the ones I currently own (or even better).

Thanks again in advance.

Solution
your RAM is KIT, it will crash with other and usually RAM kit would not work with another brand of the same spec though. , just buy the same model like you had, if not will be useless.
just a suggestion AMD will be great use tight RAM high clock like your mine .. would not that be great CL7 1600?. if you want purchase get 8GB 2x4GB appropriately priced , budget arround $60 just get 1600 CL9, if u use it , keep already RAM in the box .. good luck

It is VERY rare for RAM to only work with the same exact model as the other sticks. As long as the RAM is the same speed, and preferably the same timings, it will run in 95% of he cases.

yes in this case was rare because the issuing only GSkill 1600 7-8-7-24 with 1.6v, and the same with the GSkill Sniper specific, and I do not know of other brand launch with the same spec. if still put the same spec but different VDIM, if lucky will work ... thank's your correction
