I'm thinking of building a gaming PC. From what I read, an i5 CPU would be be good enough, and gives best bang for buck. So I think I'm going to get the Intel Core i5-6500. http://processormatch.intel.com/MotherBoards/CompatibleBoards?componentName=i5-6500 gives a list of compatible mobos. I doubt it's complete.
You probably need to know about everything else, so here's more info (if I neglected to say something, please let me know):
I don't want to waste money on a motherboard that has features that my build can't use. For instance, the i5-6500 can't overclock, so a Gigabyte Z-series motherboard would be excessive, wouldn't it? The Z series, I understand, supports overclocking.
What mobos do you folks recommend? What mobos should I stay away from, whether due to unusable features or due to poor quality or due to poor layout of slots or due to whatever else?

GPU: I'm warming up to a Radeon R9 390 card.
Case: My 10 year old midtower ATX case. Pics here.
Keyboard and mouse are basic 10-year-old plastic devices.
Monitors: 24 inch 1080p; 23 inch; 50 inch 1080p flatscreen TV.
Sounds: maybe just plug in my basic 3.5 mm earphones. (But if I play games on the TV, maybe I'll look into wireless earphones)
Storage: considering getting one SSD and one HDD
Other devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone
