What MOBO would be inline with an i5-6500 ?

I just built a PC earlier this year that uses the i5-6500 and the ASUS Z170M-plus motherboard. I moved and decided to sell off my PC (thinking itd help me to get more done, and I'd specifically use my unis library, though that seems to be more of a hindrance than anything else), so now that Im rebuilding I am going to go with the i5-6500 again as it seems to be the best for the price and seems to be able to run most new games (dark soul 3, witcher etc) at the recommended setting (according to game-debate).

So I was looking to save a bit of money with the motherboard, as I dont overclock or run 2 video cards. Can I go with a cheaper stripped down mobo with this CPU or should I stick around the $120 pricepoint with the Z170M-PLUS types?

Is ASrock a viable brand? I thought it was really only wise to pick gigabyte, MSI or ASUS

Yes Asrock is VERY good , only Avoid MSI.
