I am a newbie and I am wondering what are the differences between different monitor Hz and its compatibility with my graphics card. I have a AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB Dedicated Gaming Video Card and I am wondering what monitors do you guys recommend? 140Hz or 60Hz

Also can someone explain what Hz does because I want the smoothest gameplay possible.

Solution
For most games our 580 4gb should be sufficient, I like the ultra wides due to the better colors of IPS and the sider peripherals. If you can find them in a local store (2560x1080P or 3440x1440P) I'd check them out, it's a big improvement IMHO over 16:9.

So would my card not be able to run 144Hz, I will have to go with 75Hz for max smoothness?

Any you recommend?

Would ultra wide cause slower gameplay due to the higher resolution?

Also yes please recommend a 16:9 or a curved.

BTW: Curved or flat better?

Thank you!

I just want to make sure my system can still run games on ultra and high qualities while gaming.

Specs: System: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 8-Core 16 Thread 3.6 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) | 16GB DDR4-2400 | 1TB HDD | 120GB SSD | Genuine Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB Dedicated Gaming Video Card | VR Ready | Display Connectors - DVI-I & HD

I will consider your recommendations, but I need to know if I will have to lower my graphics or do anything to accommodate the 75Hz

I will definitely check them out. Thank you for your help!

Once I get my monitor I will just plug it in and my GC card should be able to run it just fine without any tweaking right?

I've read that I should spend my money on upgrading to 144Hz with freesyn rather than to 75Hz, still worried it will affect my gameplay though.
:/

Is it more reasonable to just upgrade to 75 from a 60Hz or go straight up to 120-144.

Depends on the types of games you play, for more competitive FPS you'd probably be better off with 144hz but more single player and less competitive games I'd go 75hz.

I am playing all different types of games, however mainly FPS. Currently I can run BF1 at ultra beyond 60 FPS (Not exactly how much because it caps me at 60) however I read that I can only experience 144Hz is I read 140 fps? I'm not sure If I am able to reach that much. So based on my specs would a 144Hz work for Bf1 and Fps games? Also free sync or no?

For example:

Only a very small margin of price. Just worried I will lag or compromise my fps/graphics on FpS games

My FPS fluctuates between 60 and high 90s or 80s in BF1 on ultra settings ,however the 144Hz monitor was only $20 more so I don’t think it was a mistake buy.

I got this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078ZJHD25/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will I still need to use free sync.
