What monitor should I get?

I am going to be receiving a new PC soon that is going to have the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti GPU. Because of this, I am going to be upgrading my monitor. I currently have an AOC 1080p 75hz.

I am trying to decide between two options:
1) 1440p (2k) monitor at 144-165hz
2) 1080p monitor at 240hz.

Games I will be playing include Fortnite, Black Ops 4, Assasins Creed, and Battlefield V.

I understand that a 4K monitor at 144hz might be the best option but I have a budget of ~$500 or less.

Any recommendations on what I should go with would be appreciated.

I have the PG279Q, and my God I don't regret getting it, the specs are nuts, and gameplay on that thing is just godly. I have a GTX 1080, and it works really well, I can imagine the 2000 series or TI would defo make it even better, but I'm currently playing every game maxed out with 60+ FPS, and when that G-Sync kicks in, it feels like the full on 165 hz lol.

This is the monitor I got, you won't go wrong with this one...
