I will be getting a new PC soon, here are specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KNbxCb
I was thinking about this one, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824022734&Description=Samsung%20CJG5&cm_re=Samsung_CJG5-_-24-022-734-_-Product
but is it really worth the extra money over 1080p monitor? Will my computer be able to run games at this resolutinon on some ok framerate? Also, i have an old laptop, and i thought about using the monitor with it, before i get the new PC, specs are: i3 3217U @ 1.80GHz, 8GB RAM. Will it run at least windows at this resolution?

Thank you for any tips.

Solution
Yes, it is worth the extra money and yes, your computer will be able to run 1440p at high framerate. You are getting a very nice rig and running at 1080p would actually handicap it. I recommend getting a good monitor because for gaming it will make a huge difference in the experience.

Many people skimp on the monitor and it is the only piece that actually provide the visual for gaming. A good monitor will also last much longer than any of your hardware, so I recommend spending a bit more and get a good one.

Either of these are really good and will pair nicely with your rig.

The new system would pair nicely with a 1440p, 144Hz panel, depending on the titles. You're probably not going to be maxing/ultra on many titles and still driving 144FPS, but a 1070TI will still pair very nicely.

As for the laptop.... I don't think so. A mobile i3 of that era probably *could* do 1440p over DisplayPort, but most laptops don't have a DP on them.
With HDMI, DVI or VGA... I'd expect a laptop of that era to be limited to 1080p.
