I'm looking to get a new 22" monitor for around $360 or under.
I want the monitor for general use and also for movies.

I am currently looking at:

Samsung 226BW (S panel i think, not really sure though)

AND

V7

Which one would you recommend and why? Also if you don't recommend neither of them please tell me what you would get instead and why.

Thanks :)

What's the V7?

Samsung no longer provides info on which panel the 226BW is using, therefore it will be almost impossible to know if you are getting the "S" panel. There may still be 226BW monitors in warehouses that identified the panel on a sticker on the back of the monitor.

Here's a good article discussing the different panels:

Personally, I'm looking towards the Viewsonic vg2230wm right now based on what I've seen about it. It's probably close to being on par with an S-panel, and you know which one you're getting. Plus I think Samsung has been kind of shifty about this whole thing so I'd just assume not give them my business. And I've never had anything but respect for Viewsonic and their products (they do outsource a few of the lowest end products, but they've never tried to hide it).

A picture of the V7 doesn't really provide any info.

I am not a fan of any 22" LCD monitor because they all use the inferior 6-bit TN panel technology. That's way they are all relatively inexpensive.

Here's a comparision of the Samsung 226BW "S" panel and "C" panel:

Here's a link to someone's review of the LG 226WTY that you may want to consider:
