Hi I want to buy a 144hz gaming monitor, but I have no idea which to buy and what cables I can actually use, originally I was looking to buy the asus vg248qe but on the specs of the pc I bought it says I only have a hdmi port. The specs of the pc I bought are here https://www.cclonline.com/pc/gaming-pcs/omega-pro/ccl-omega-pro-gt-gaming-pc/ ( don't say I got ripped off etc, I really just want help ).

If someone could answers these quesions it would be extremely helpful!

What ports do I have, know it says I only have a hdmi port on specs but the GeForce gtx 1070 8gb says it has a DisplayPort and hdmi ? ( forgive me I'm new to pcs ) so why don't I have a display port.

How do I check what hdmi port I do have? I understand you need a 1.4 or 2.0 to be able to run 144hz how do I check this.

What monitors support hdmi 144hz if that truly is the only port I have?

The VG248QE is limited to 60 Hz over HDMI.

See section 7 here for a list of monitors that support 120+ Hz over HDMI: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3675170/connect-120-display-construction.html

If you have a GTX 1070, you will be using the video outputs on the graphics card not the motherboard.
The video ports vary with the make and model of the GTX1070, but all of them include all three types of ports. The DisplayPort is the best choice of monitor cable for 144 Hz monitors.

Again, don't select a monitor just because it takes a HDMI. Choose the one that has the best range of features that you want.

Yeah, no reason to get a monitor because of HDMI 144hz. OP, I don't think I've ever seen a GTX 1070 that didn't have DP, so I'd just use DP in the first place and then be able to choose a monitor based on features and quality, not that has one niche compatibility.

That is exactly correct.

According to the pictures on the product page, the graphics card appears to have 3 DisplayPort outputs on the back. So you should be fine.

What monitors allow to run 144 hz with hdmi?

Like I said,
