What motherboard for a i5-7500 and a 1050 ti

Solution
If you can push it to the Ryzen 5 1600 instead of Ryzen 5 1500X, you'll be getting more future-proofing. Good B350 motherboards include the MSI B350 Tomahawk, Asus Prime B350 Plus and ASRock Pro4 motherboards. The Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 is also good, pick whichever manufacturer you prefer.

My recommendation would be a Ryzen 5 1600 if possible, paired with the B350 Prime Plus. If you can't afford that, the 1500X with the same motherboard is still very good for the price, just not as future-proof.

The main difference between the 1500X and the 1600 is that the 1500X is a 4-core 8-thread chip, while the Ryzen 5 1600 is a 6-core 12-thread chip. This is why the 1600 is more future-proof.

I wasn't looking to overclock the CPU, but if you think the Ryzen is better could you find me (If your up to it) a good motherboard for a Ryzen CPU? Also what would be the best Ryzen CPU for around the same price as a i5-7500, I was thinking of the Ryzen 5 1500X if that's any good?
Thanks in advance!

Solution

Think I'll push for the Ryzen 5 1600 paired with the B350 Prime Plus, thanks for your help! 2 more things if you don't mind answering them :) 1. Is a 550W PSU enough for this or is it overkill? 2. Is 12GB DDR4 Ram enough for this?
Thanks again!

a quality 550W would be my suggestion.
best corsair RM550x top notch quality, 10yr warranty
great EVGA g2 550W Top notch quality, 7 year warranty
Seasonic G550
Corsair cx 550m
seasonic S12II or M12II 520W

12GB should be fine but three 4GB or 1 x 8Gb and 1 x 4GB? 12 is an odd number.

I've already got 8GB DDR4 Ram just didn't want to spend an extra £60 + on another 8GB Stick, unless 8GB would be good enough then that would be great!

my concern was in the dual channel memory setup.
8GB should be fine if however you notice a lot of HDD paging then get more RAM otherwise nothing at all wrong with 8 for the time being

Ah ok, thanks for your help!

550W and the 12 GB is my recommendation. 8 GB will work, but it won't be optimal, so to say. 12 GB will offer a better experience especially in AAA games like GTA V, Battlefield One, Mass Effect Andromeda and so on. I'd really recommend 12 GB over 8 GB. 8 GB is the minimum for a gaming PC today, and you don't want to start off a PC with the minimum.

Thx, I'll go for 12GB then. Would 16GB show any difference over 12GB or would it be the same results?

^ I wouldn't go with 12gbvram either personally , ryzen has enough issues with memory incompatibility still without making it worse by using completely mismatched sticks

I would stick with the 8gb you currently own until you have the money to buy a proper matching stick/sticks for 16gb.

Oh, ok I'll do that then :)

That's a fair point, what with the memory issues with Ryzen, you might just be better off with sticking to 8 GB until you can get a matched 16 GB pair.
