For about the past week now I have been heavily researching reviews and experienced opinions on some component options for my very first p.c build. Some of the sites I visited to obtain my information and component list include overclocked, newegg, amazon, youtube and lastly tomshardware. This build will be primarily for gaming, I do plan on overclocking once I learn exactly how to do so. My budget is 1300$ I would lovefor it to be under but I am willing to spend a little more for quality. Here is a list of components that I have chosen.

CPU- intel i5 3570k - $219.99
SSD- Samsung 840 pro series 128gb ssd SATA $128
HDD- wd caviar black 1TB sata 6gb/s 7200rpm 64mb cache $85
GPU- EVA GeForce acx gtx760 $249.95
ODD- Asus x24 dvd writer $19.99
CPU COOLER- hyper 212 Evo $31
PSU- xfx pro 750w modular 80plus gold $129.99
OS- windows 7 home premium $89.99

here is where my questions are. I plan on upgrading in the future to SLI with a second evga GeForce acx gtx760 and adding a corsair H100i cpu cooler to the build when I can afford it as well as overclocking. I want to make sure my case and motherboard can support the future upgrades. which of the following options will be the best choices considering the other components I have chosen?

motherboards- (I would like to have a wifi option however it is not a decision making factor.) after plenty of research these boards made my top 3 to choose from
-asus p8z77-v pro. $179.99. I have read some good and bad reviews about this product. some of the issues include the wifi going bad and the onboard audio quality being poor.
-asrock z77 extreme 4 $124.48 this board has some great reviews and tons of people refer it. the best for its price with good oc potential. on the down side a bunch of people complain about the size of the board. apparently it is not the standard size of an atx motherboard this allows for the cpu cooler to be in the way of the ram. another complaint was that the board is thin and bends a good amount when the ram is being installed.
-gigabyte ga z77x ud3h $144 this bored has a bit of mixed reviews as well.

All of these boards have mixed reviews. I was originally going to stick with the asrock but I want the best board out of the 3 so I am open to suggestions, any information you may have will be appreciated.

Case- for the case I have two in mind. I want good cable management and of course it has to look pretty and my components have to fit in comfortably. good airflow is also important to me.

-corsair obsidian 650d. $179.99 I love this case however it is a bit pricey and I am worried that the glass panel will not provide for great airflow.
- corsair carbide 500r $89.99 this is my second favorite and more in my price range.
as far as the quality of the stock fans go I do pan on replacing them in the future with led fans I am open to suggestions on that also.

RAM- I will start with 8Gbs and upgrade to 16 in the future. my main concern is having enough space for the ram with the after market cpu cooler in place. if I pick a motherboard with a blue theme i will most likely pick the blue ram. my two options are
-Rijaw gskill x 8gb ddr3 1600mhz (2x4gb) (red) $89.99
-corsair vengeance (blue) ddr3 1600mhz 8GB (2x4gb) $79.99

That does it for my components please help me pick a motherboard and case!!! :) I am open to suggestions on components aside from the ones I have chosen to go with if you feel their are better options. Thank you ahead of time.

when you read the reviews on newegg they can be a little off. (new builder burning out parts or damaging the mb. read the reviews online and look at the mb spec. some of the low end mb cant do sli it cost more to make a sli motherboard then one that does crossfire. the ones that dont do sli with have one 16x video slot port and a 4x video port. the asus mb have a nice feature called usb flashback. if the bios goes bad you can boot the mb wihtout a cpu or ram and recover the bios from a usb stick. most mb if they have the right lay out you can toss in a wifi pci card or use a usb dongle.

Smorizio, thank you for your list of parts. I read that the Samsung 840 pro is better than the evo and that wd hdds are more reliable than Seagate hdds. what are your thoughts on this? as for the cpu and motherboard you listed, what are some advantages haswell has over the i5 3570k? I know its newer and around the same price but most people say the ivybridge cpus overclock better? and is that motherboard one of the best? I need at least 4SATA 3 ports. and for the gpu, people say sli is better than crossfire and im a bit of an NVidia fan boy lol. im a bit of a noob this will be my first build please have patience with me.

Splendid
These days almost all motherboard are the same, all it comes down to it the features it has.
Gaming boards will tend to have better audio, while mainstream types will have features that more suited to everyday home use like Wireless/bluetooth, and workstation types have features suited for users who does serious work on their system, like Asus WS boards have a internal USB port that lets users plug in their USB dongle used with their special programs.
First set a price range on the amount you would like to spend on a board and then based on that price limit, find a board with
the most features on it and be happy with it.
Get 1150, this not overclock well didn't hurt Intel sales as a lot of new buyers will go with 1150.
It also supports next CPU called Broadwell.

I want a motherboard with quality a good look to it and something with at least 4 sata3 ports and it has to be able to support sli and crossfire. as far as the 1150 haswell cpus go. im not completely sold on them. in the course of doing research I have stumbled across plenty of people who say the i53570ks operate better while overclocked and that there is only about a 3-6percent performance increase in the haswell compared to ivybridge. I do want t be able to upgrade in the future to broadwell but most likely at that point I will replace the motherboard too. asus gigabyte and asrok are apparently the top 3 brands that make quality motherboards. How is msi's quality?

the issue with haswell and ivry cpu is that intel insted of using a soild soilder under the lid now uses a glup of thermal paste. this causes the cpu now to have a very large hot spot in the center of the cpu lid. msi mb if they work there fine. the issue with msi is they have higher doa rate then asus or gigbyte.
