So a while ago I purchased a HIS 4830, which can be found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161260&cm_re=HIS_4830-_-14-161-260-_-Product

I am now trying to upgrade my system, so I can have a little more power and runs game like MW2 a little better. My solution was to purchase another HIS 4830 and Cross Fire the two. But it seems they don't make the card, and I can't seem to find any 4830. I am guessing they stopped making the GPU?

Well I am still on the look for more power and decided the next step would be to Xfire a 4850 with my current 4830. Would this be a good idea? Better option?
I am looking for more power for only about $100-150.

Any comments welcome! :)

what is the problem with your current system... my single 4850 runs MW2 on 1920&1200 all max (AA and AF) at around 50 FPS...

if you still want to upgrade... there are two options, get another 4830/4850 or sell 4830 and buy somn better...

option 1 will possibly save you some cash but it puts you in a corner situation.... wen you upgrade later to i7/i5/amd equivalent i doubt you would want to keep the parts from the current system ... this is a better option for a dead end system where you know you will not upgrade for a while and you can deal with it (that is what i did and will be doing for a a couple of years, ocing like crazy until all is dead and gone, and then build new system from scratch)

option 2, buy a new card like the HD5*** (may be more expensive, not sure).... this will allow you to upgrade sooner and dump your current rig and keep the vid card and crossfire that instead... downside you have to upgrade sooner or you will be stuck in the situation where 5*** series will be gone and your back here, also you may not be getting everything out of your card with the current system (also depends and what 5*** card you buy)...

its your choice, good luck : )

EDIT:
oh and you probably herd this before.... win 7 does make things faster ( i got it for $21 because i am a student)... so if you can get similarly good deal or even close, do a clean install... now that i am win 7, vista seems like i was trying to run against a current of molasses lol

Thanks for the help guys.

I think I am going to buy a 4850 and cross fire it with my 4830. Is there a limit on what 4850 I can buy or will any GPU in the 4800 series cross fire with each other?

I'm gonna guess the driver will checkerboard the display into say 100 pieces (in reality probably more like 1000+ pieces), it will give the 4850 60 pieces to render & the 4830 40 pieces to render.
