One thing you can try when you get there, is to locate the autoexec.bat and
config.sys files, in the root of the C: drive, and re-name them, then restart and
see if the problem still exists.
At the A:\ prompt you are seemingly getting no matter what mode you try to start in
(is this true?), type the following, and press Enter after each line:
C:
CD\
ren autoexec.bat autoexec.ba_
ren config.sys config.sy_
Then press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart. Be sure there is no diskette in the floppy
drive, and no CD in the CD drive.
