What Nvidia Graphics Card do you recommend?

I am upgrading my GPU to Nvidia, for 3D.
I currently have a Sapphire 2GB 6950 so I would like it to be a decent upgrade, it would feel like a waste if I got a card that performed only slightly better(and fork out so much just for better 3D).

Would a GTX 770 be enough in your opinion?
I was leaning towards GTX 780 but if I can save a couple of hundred and still get a big increase in frame rates that would be great.

I've looked into the 780's and I like the following:
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 OC 3GB $629 (only because of the price, from a trusted brand)
ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC 3GB $649
EVGA GTX780 3G Superclocked $669
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Dual FTW ACX Cooler 3GB $689
*Prices are in AUD

Which one would you recommend?
Are there any better cards with a similar price?

(If new cards are being released soon or price drops in the near future please give details)

Specs:
PSU - Antec TruePower 750W
M/B - Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3
CPU - i5-2500k
RAM - 8GB Corsair DDR3 12800
Monitor - Asus VG248QE
OS - Windows 7

Both cards should give you a fair fps increase than your old card, a GTX 770 is suffice for playing all new games at 1080 with the highest settings at more than 60fps so you wont need the 780 really unless you want really high frames or use a higher resolution monitor.
Out of the cards you chose I would probably go with the EVGA Superclocked.
But there is always the EVGA GTX Classified which in my opinion is probably one of the best GTX 780 cards.

Go with the gtx 780, you can find one for slightly over $500... I've seen a a Zotac for $460, these prices are available if you live in North America.

I like Asus the best and I've had a Asus, Evga and a Gigabyte graphic card in the last year. EVGA is also good espcially if you get a classified..

Thanks I'll have a look into some 770 reviews in the meantime.

I should have mentioned in the OP that I am only running 1 monitor in 1080p, but it is 144hz monitor so I'm aiming for higher than 60fps.
Yeah the Classified looks good but it's about $100 more in Australia 🙁 Probably not THAT much better..

Yeah, sucks how everything is hell expensive in Australia, and the thing is we are 1000's of kilometers closer than America to where the components are made ahaha makes no sense.
The classified 780 is about 50-60 dollars more expensive than FTW version, depending where you look in Australia.
The GTX 770 classified however has 4gb Vram and is about $540, which can in theory can be overclocked to the similar performance of a 780.

Lol true, at least it's hot :)

Yeah I could get the 770 classified for $100 cheaper, more options :pt1cable:
I think the 780's OC better than a stock Titan as well though so if I choose to OC, which I no doubt will, the 780 is still a lot more powerful than a 770 classified? At least $100 when looking at price of Titans.

Hypothetically, if there was a 780 Superclocked and 770 Classified that had the exact same frame rate in games at the same clock speeds, and was the exact same price, which one would you get? (I know it can't happen but do you know what I'm getting at?)

The 780 ! the Gk110 is a has a superior architecture - I upgraded from a 670 - 780 and the difference was huge. You will get more fps and a much better experience... The 770 isn't that much better than the gtx 670...

I recently upgraded to a 780 ti because a 780 wasn't enough for me at 1440p however for 1080 the gtx 780 was enough for me.

If you can find a GTX 780 within your budget that would be the best option for 1080, the problem with the 770GTX is the 256 bit bus and 2GB buffer. The 4GB variant of the 770 is a gimmick.

More and more games will pack UDH textures and 2GB is barely enough as it is. So long term you much better of with a GTX 780 @ 1080p!
