- ■Log on to Windows 8 computer with the administrator account.
■Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop.
■Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner.
■From the displayed options, click Settings.
■From Settings pane, click Control Panel.
■On Control Panel window, click System and Security category.
■On System and Security window, click Windows Firewall from the right pane.
■On Windows Firewall window, click Turn Windows Firewall on or off from the left pane.
■On Customize Settings window, click to select Turn on Windows firewall or Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) radio buttons to enable or disable Windows Firewall respectively under both Private network settings and Public network settings sections.
■Once done, click OK.
■Back on Windows Firewall window, click Allow an app or feature through Windows firewall from the left pane.
■On Allowed apps window, check or uncheck the checkboxes representing the apps and features from the Allowed apps and features list that are to be allowed or denied to communicate with other computers on the network or the Internet through Windows Firewall respectively. Optionally Allow another app can also be clicked to browse for and add the app that is not in the list.
■Once done, click OK.
■Close Windows Firewall window when done.
