ASUS N61JQ, Win 7.

I just did a fresh install of win 7 home Premium, and installed the windows updates that came up automatically. I'd like to keep this system free of bloat and I do NOT have the driver update/laptop install disc.

I have formatted the SSD twice now because (I think) I installed drivers in an improper order; I keep having different issues with unrecognized hardware or sound not working etc. This time around I have gone only with Win 7 updates and now I would like to install only what is necessary to get this back to gaming.

So what is the order I should go on? Here is the list of drivers available from ASUS:

So is it chopset 1st... then restart... then GFX drivers+restart then... etc.

That is what I would like assistance with. Just getting this machine to work properly again

Thanks in advance

Which do I need to install? I know Chipset and GPU certainly... but what else? It seems like a lot of forums suggest that Win7 will take care of most. Is there a downside to skipping out on 90% of that driver list?

Also, thanks for your quick reply. I was going to post and sleep on it. I can get started tonight now. :)

Additionally, can i just DL the most recent driver straight off? Another thread recommended installing older drivers and working up from them. That sounds wrong to me, but I've been wrong before...

Not something I'd recommend, older drivers have been upodated due to their being problems with them - often compatibility issues, if you have drivers, say ver 1, 2, 3, 4 then 4 will have the previous updates included as well as fixes to previous problems in the earlier versions. (keep in mind this is with drivers) the BIOS can be a different story, though seldom, occasionally they will have a specific update that calls for it to be an individual update
