Hey there, built my first pc a few years ago and here are the specs (and prices at the time of purchase)

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($88.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($72.00 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($53.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280
Case: Corsair SPEC-02 ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD/CD Writer ($14.99 @ Newegg)

I only really play fortnite, and get around 120fps with decent settings. My monitor is 1900x600 60hz.

I'm just looking to see if you guys know any current deals to upgrade the gpu, cpu, power supply etc. Maybe I should grab a cooling system? I'm really not great and building these. If you could let me know what parts are still good, and which are outdated, that would be great.

Any advice/input is appreciated, thanks

You could probably find an i7-4770 / i7-4790 cpu for a decent price now. That would be an improvement over the 4460. Possibly upgrading the memory to 16gb or even going with a newer video card such as the gtx 1050 ti.

Although you don't want to get too crazy as Fortnite is not a very demanding game.

A GTX 1050ti is a bad suggestion, in many games the R9 280 is faster. An upgrade would be a GTX 1060 6gb or an RX 580 8gb.

If your happy with the performance then there's really nothing to recommend, maybe a 240+gb SSD for the OS and maybe a couple of games with longer loading screens. If anything I'd consider a monitor upgrade, Fortnite supports 21:9 ultrawide.

I have this LG ultrawide and I love it for gaming.

Next suggestions would be a better CPU for the 1150 socket if you can find a good deal on a i7 and then a GPU upgrade.

I was just looking to get around 200fps, not sure of that's more graphics or gpu dependant. Also, how important are cooling systems? Whenever the games running, I definitely hear my pc running hard, but I never play for longer than like 4-5 hour sessions

Yeah I'm about to get a better monitor, I just thought I should upgrade some other components to since I'm at it. But if my rig looks fine to you guys I won't change it, just a 120hz monitor or so
