Hello,

I have this MB - http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c01386897

I would like to get a new video card and a SSDHD, but I am having difficulty in determining what will be compatible and what won't. What should I be looking for when choosing those 2 parts?

I got Win-7 32bit and I would also like to make it into 64bit, will the MB "handle it"?

Could I keep my intel core 2 duo e7500 on a 64bit OS?

Thanks!

Solution
ofr the graphics card and storage, there shouldn't be any problems with any modern video card(gtx700/900 series, amd 200 series) or storage solution. as for your cpu, it is 64 bit, so it should accept a 64 bit windows (http://ark.intel.com/products/36503/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E7500-3M-Cache-2_93-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB).

The spec page you linked to show the max RAM as 4GB. If that is the limit, there is little (if any) benefit in changing the OS. You can't convert from 32 to 64 bit anyway, you have to do a new install.

There is a PCIe slot so you could add a video card, but you will be limited by the power supply.

You should be able to use any SSD. You may not get the maximum performance that a newer motherboard will get but it will still be much faster than a mechanical disk.
