Hey guys,
I'm trying to put a little cheap gaming pc together for my friend for christmas,, but have really nothing to spend being a student!!

He has wanted to get away from Console gaming and i had the idea to put together a older system from parts people dont want anymore!!

I was originally thinking Core 2 duo/ quad or AMD equivalent as i was offered these systems for free in the past to help me set up my own PC Repairs at Uni!! Unfortunately the idea never really got off the ground!!

so far i have managed to get hold of
a HP microserver to base this off, with an opteron CPU (Proliant Ml115)
4GB RAM and a Mobo,

--Parts im looking for--
Cheap PSU, (450w-500)
Case, ANY!!
GPU (9*** Series/3*** series+)
and
Cd drive

What Range should i be going for with this system?
What gpu for the CPU etc??

I have no money (Very little to spend) and will be trying to go for older second hand parts??

There's no point building someone a desktop if that desktop is nothing but a hunk of junk. For anything worth while and something that your friend will want to use, you'd need to spend a minimum of $250.

A cheap system such as the one im after will be able to play anything that we play at 1280x1024/1650x1080 which is what im after,

Minecraft/CounterStrike

Not the Metro2033 or BF4 systems which even my 3770k670GTX will struggle with
