Hello man :
kielly32 :
I ran into 200 bucks for doing nothing and I need a new computer anyways so what parts would your recommend that I buy that adds up to $200.00. I need to be able to upgrade these parts in the future in other words my computer is kicking the bucket. I only have 200 dollars, and I want to build a computer that I can turn into a $1500.00 computer slowly but surely.
Btw Im going to be using PCPartPicker
You won't get a computer with $200. Linus tech tips recently did a used computer build off, and they found that to even get a semi decent build it would take $300 BUYING USED PARTS.
Not even a pure base model. Not worried if it runs like shit cause its going to be upgraded
As I said earlier, "The issue that arises is this: $200 dollars is how much my processor cost. Granted you don't have to buy an FX8350, but due to intercompatability issues a (talking Intel boards here) socket 2011 mother board will not work with a socket 775 processor. This essentially limits you to (with your budget) getting one nice shiny new part, or an old used PC from about 2008 that will never be very fast, even if you cram an SSD, 64 GB of RAM and a TITAN Z into it (somehow). That SSD will only be able to run at SATA 3 speeds, you will be stuck with DDR2 RAM and the TITAN will be bottlenecked by your slow processor."
I know the exact nature of the problem you will have if you try and do this. I have bought many an old 2008 computer and upgraded them. I tried to cram an old GTX 460 into a PC running a Q6400 once and the card was bottlenecked by the processor and DDR2 RAM so bad that even at idle my processor usage was between 90-100%.
