I am planning to build my first pc, and wondering how much performance would it give

build:
cpu: Intel Core i9-7980xe Extreme series
gpu: NVidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 2 way SLI
ram: (8 x 8) 64Gb octa channel DDR4 3200 mHz
storage: 2 x 1Tb Samsung Evo 12 SSD
operating system: Windows 10 Pro or Debian Linux

things I will be doing:

playing: (with all setting set to max)
Black ops 1, 2, 4, and WWII
PubG
GTA V (VI when it comes out)
Minecraft
Asphalt 9
possibly league?
and pretty much all other games

developing with: (looping through large arrays, recursive functions, multi-threading, game rendering, etc)
C++
Java
C
Assembly
possibly Python?

watching:
porn obviously (LOL jk)
movies
streams
and all the other daily stuff

If this is for 1440p gaming then 60fps+ in all games even in the worst case no problem. If for 4K then there will be good list of games which will be giving you below 60fps if they don't scale well with SLI, otherwise you should be fine with SLI.

I hope this is 1440p setup.

i thought the rtx 2080 Ti is the most powerful consumer sold graphics card in existence at this current moment, and I have 2 of those, if that's not enough to hit 60+ in 4k then what is? btw i probably won't be using it for 4k but just curious

It is definitely the most powerful GPU for gaming out in the market. But being best doesen't mean it is up to mark to support all the demanding games at 4K over 60+fps. If in SLI it mostly can handle even demanding games at 60+fps. But if a game is very demanding and does not scale well in SLI then you cannot expect it to hit 60+fps at 4K even with 2 x RTX 2080 Ti. Luckily majority of demanding games do support SLI and scale well.

To get perfect 60+fps at 4K we probably have to wait a gen or two more.

Probably he wanted to know what resolution it can satisfy without any compromise. For now with that setup I still recommend 1440p if one expects to hit 60+fps in all games. If one is fine with compromising in few games only then 4K is the answer.

is it because games have not had the time to optimize for raytracing? Or is it because we need to wait for the new nvidia drivers for rtx cards?

Ray-tracing is still a new concept under development. It is noway near perfection and large-scale implementation. Can only hope of new drivers to make the experience even smoother but can't expect to have performance improvement from it.

SLI is not worth it, even if you got 2 1080ti. The issue is, game developers are not implementing SLI into newer games. No DX 12 games will utilize it. Ray tracing will cripple your cards performance. Even IF you got SLI support for 2 2080ti, you would get about 60-70FPS in 1080p with ray tracing enabled.

Jaystwocents did 2 2080 in sli and they could only get 25-74% improvement over single in games at 4k. there is a few games that actually went slower with 2 then a single.

he was also using the better sli bridge

ye im planning on making this build later anyways when i get to university so my neighbors won't think im making an aircraft engine in my house. I just posted this wondering if i could crush demanding titles at 4k with no problem
