What port should I use to hook up my PC to the monitor?

DVI, HDMI, or VGA? Im not sure which is the best. Have a 144 hz monitor.

HDMI, out of the three. Really, HDMI and DVI should be about the same, both are digital. VGA is analog, so don't use it.

DVI=HDMI>VGA btw if it's a freesync/gsync monitor you need a Display Port cable for those to work.

HDMI carrys audio as well, so it is a good choice. VGA is old, so its best not to use it. DVI and HDMI are both digital, while VGA is analog, so VGA's image quality can be limited by the cable, while the others can not. DVI is a good choice, but HDMI is most popular. I'd go with hdmi or dvi. Both are equally good.

Well I have a monitor that I intend to use with a PC and a ps4. Should I use a HDMI splitter in this case? If I opt for a DVI-d cable instead then should the HDMI end plug into the graphics card or should the DVI side go there?

Use HDMI with the PS4 and DVI for the PC. If I'm correct, HDMI splitters only take an output to two displays, they can't receive two different inputs.
