Greetings,

Unfortunately just forwarding ports won't typically allow this to work, instead the router
will need to support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). However, some of the "tricks" may work,
the ports used are ports 5004 through 65535 UDP.

Oh Shoot! UPNP!
Isn't that still a huge security hole to have that running on a machine
outside a firewall?

Hi,

UPnP in of itself, has never been a security hole (although one could argue the technology
does allow ports to be opened and therefore would be...). You may be referring to the buffer
overrun that was found back in October 2001; that was fixed promptly in November 2001 and has
been included in every service pack since then.

As well, the buffer overrun was in the SSDP Discovery Service, not UPnP itself (as widely
mistaken by the press).
