Just upgraded from a RTX 4090 and had zero issues with the cable my PC builders used. Not sure what cable it is but i can find out.

Should i replace this as i have now disturbed the connector?

If so what cable should i buy to retain warranty with MSI?

Make and model of your PSU and it's age? If you don't have a native 12V-2x6 connector stemming from your PSU, you can work with the adapter that's bundled with your RTX5090.

Might want to pass on images of the cable used by said builder.

Thumb rule, ask first then go do.

JTC recently put out a video showing that his 12V-2X6 cable actually had better contact after a few reinsertions, but each cable will be different. It could be that you get a new cable and have issues with it, when the old cable would’ve been fine.
The 12VHPWR (and 12V-2X6) are faulty designs - plain and simple, but, if you have the older 12VHPWR it may be better to get a certified 12V-2X6 cable instead. Also, examine the connector end to look for pin receptacles that are recessed further than the others as this could cause contact issues. Good luck!
