Hi I'm going to buy a computer this week and I don't know how much watts do I need for this build.

Specs:

I7 7700

MSI GTX 1060 6gb

Asus Prime H270 plus

DDR4 Gskillripjaws v 16 gb dual

Western Digital 2tb

Sandisk 128 SSD

Cooler Master Hyper 212 led

Power supply: ?????? (watts???) I was wondering if i should buy the corsair vs650

I'm going to use the pc for 5-10 hours

Solution
Corsair CX450M should be fine for your system, bronze rated, for $54 on Amazon if on a budget. If not, it couldn't hurt to choose a better one. You may be able to find a sale on a quality 430w or higher psu, though 450w-500w is plenty of power for your sys. Here's a link that may be helpful, from this site listing PSU tiers. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Note: Max1s question is important. If you aren't sure whether you'll be upgrading your gpu or adding other components, drives, fans, etc, later, then considering a psu with higher wattage would be your best bet.

Are you planning on sticking with these components or are you going to move to a bigger graphics card (for example) in the future? If not then there's no reason to exceed what you need at the moment, although with PSU's it's better to have too much rather than too little. 🙂

having too many watts is not a problem to little and will slow components down a good 550 watt would be good
PSU Tier list tier 1-2 are good for gaming

I would recommend an EVGA SuperNova Gold G2 / GS / GQ, Platinum P2 / PS, or Titanium T2 or a Seasonic M12-II Evo or S12-II

GOOD PSU EVGA is a B2, G2, P2, GS, PS, or T2. Avoid the EVGA B1 and G1 series

What your asking can be easily answered by your self, look at all the spec for all the components going to be using , CPU, GPU, RAM, HHD, SSD, FANS, LIGHTING, MODEMS, etc, for max power required to run them all efficiently under load, or accelerated, Do a little Math, An you'll have your answer, no one can really answer that question correctly with out knowing the full scale of your use, an full component use list at present on the Build, for instance the i7 core may only use 30 to 70 watts under load Depending on the size of the Core, but What's the fan keeping it cool going to use ? But if your asking for a good guess, by the sounds of your Hardware Spec I would not use anything under a good 500W PSU no crap
unless you like learning how to trouble shoot power shortages, an hardware malfunctions, Better to over Kill then to Under Power I say. Good Luck!
