What processor is actually compatible with Asrock 970 pro3 2.0

Hi there guys I have an Asrock 970 pro 3 r2.0 and I tried to upgrade my Athlon triple core to an FX 6300 and the computer would complete just crash and have booting problems etc etc and just would not work . the bios is completely up to date too.

here are the current specs i have

2tb western digital hard drive

asrock pro3 r2.0

3 gb ddr3 ram

amd athlon II X3 450

amd radeon 6850 x2 1GB

cooler master 500 watt 80 plus power supply

so can anyone tell me what higher end processor actually works well with this motherboard please :]
