What PSU for my spec?

Hi guys, could you recommend me a PSU for this spec:


OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 8173 Mb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7850, -2048 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 476836 MB, Free - 304862 MB;
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC., P8Z68-V LX


My power supply is the Cooler Master Xtreme Power 500 watts which I have been told on several occasions on this forum is garbage. I intend on overclocking the 7850 a good bit but don't intend on overclocking anything else. I am also going to upgrade to an i5-3570K next year and I will be overclocking that probably.

Modular would be preferrable but not if it is too expensive (over £60)

Any recommendations?

Hmm, it only has 34 amps on the +12 volt rail, I think that is absolute minimum for a 7850. Would it matter?

I believe the 7850 requires at least 24 amps for a single card on a combined 12v rail....

Damn, I would of bought that if I lived in America lol Unfortunately I'm in the UK and you get all of your components cheaper than us. I done a lot of comparing and it is a lot cheaper for you.

Oh, well if it only needs 24 amps then I'll definitely go for that one. It is Corsair after all so it has to be reliable.

I can get it for £48.50 from Amazon or $78 in your cheap-as-hell money lol

They are both great power supplies. amuffin's power supply is also a great one. Go for whatever strikes your fancy.

The XFX 550 is probably the best value right now, you can get it for £50 from Ebuyer with free delivery.
All the PSUs suggested are pretty good, could throw in the Antec High Current Gamer series too.
To be honest, you likely don't even need that much power. Even overclocked a 3570k isn't' going to be using much more than 100W. Your graphics card is rated at 130W and can't physically draw more than 150W due to only having one power cable. Pretty much everything else is trivial.
Any of the 500W+ PSUs listed will give you a lot of scope for any potential future upgrades.
