What PSU should I get with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 budget gaming PC build?

I am in the process of buying a slightly used (2 months), second-hand budget gaming PC from a friend. I am thinking of buying a new PSU, instead of using the generic PSU that comes with it. What PSU should I get?

Here are the specs:
Graphics card: Emtek (South Korean brand) Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 1GB
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.10 GHZ
RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3 (1 stick)
HD 1: 500 GB Western Digital Blue
HD 2: 75 GB (old) Seagate ST380811AS
Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LX3 PLUS (LGA1155)
Power Supply: Power Choice PC-580W (picture) (came with the case)

I'll be playing on a 1366 x 768 native-res monitor.

I am thinking of buying a new power supply because the one that comes with the PC is of an unknown brand, and I don't want to shorten the computer's life or have components malfunction due to a possibly bad power supply.

What are good brands and models of PSUs to go along with that PC setup? Among my choices are Antec BP430w, Antec BP500w and Antec VP450w. Are those ok? Which is better - Antec BP500w or VP450w? (They are nearly of the same price in the store where I'm gonna be buying a PSU from.) Any other good brands and models I should consider? Which gives good "bang for the buck" and are energy efficient?

Antec is a good brand of PSU, and you could go with any of those ones you listed and be fine. I like to get more than I need just in case I decide to upgrade components in the future, the PSU will be one less thing to worry about.

Which is better - Antec BP500w or a VP450w? (They are nearly of the same price in the store where I'm gonna be buying a PSU from.) The Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 needs at least a 400w PSU according to its specs from its webpage: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650/specifications

I'd go for the 500W if they are very close in price, that'll give you a bit of headroom for a better card in the future if you end up wanting to upgrade 🙂

Hi - since a quality 400w unit will have more than enough +12v rail amps than you
need for that build, I believe you should opt fo the vp450 of the models you
listed. The vp series is a step up from the bp series in Antec's line. I would
always opt for better quality (which is why you would step up) if my budget allows.

Also, the vp450 actually has more +12v amps(30 vs 29) than the bp500, and that
is the key power rating.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) will require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

I won't be doing any overclocking.

Up to 60 USD. But if I can get an acceptable one for less, that's preferable.
